JSpark will not open
Check your system and the first-launch step, then whether JSpark is already running.
Check your system
- On a Mac: a Mac with Apple silicon, and macOS 13 or later. JSpark does not run on Intel Macs.
- On Windows: Windows 10 or later.
The first time you open JSpark, your system may ask you to confirm it. See Open JSpark the first time.
It may already be running
Only one JSpark runs at a time. If you open it while it is already running, no second copy starts: the JSpark that is running brings its window to the front.
On a Mac, JSpark keeps running after you close its window. Click its icon in the Dock to open the window again. On Windows, closing the last window quits JSpark.
A message when it opens
JSpark opens even when something it keeps cannot be found or read, and tells you in a message:
- Your Library couldn’t be read or Your Library couldn’t be opened: see The Library could not be read.
- Your Working Folder couldn’t be found: the folder you chose in Settings is not there, for example on a drive that is not connected. JSpark switched back to its own folder. Choose the folder again in Settings → About when it is back. See The Working Folder.
Still stuck
If JSpark still does not open, write to support@jspark.app. Say which system you use, and its version. If JSpark opens but something is wrong, use Help → Report a Problem…: it starts the email with these details for you. See Report a problem.
