The developer
I’m a software engineer. I work mostly on the frontend, and I have many years of backend work too. Before that I was a UX designer, which is why JSpark has opinions about spacing.
I like apps that are free, that work offline, and that don’t ask for my email address. I tried to make JSpark one of them.

It was my own tool first
For years, JSpark was a private tool on my own computer. I built it because every other way to check a few lines of code annoyed me a little.
The browser console works, until the code is longer than one line. I press Enter for a new line, and it runs half of my code. I paste some TypeScript, and it says Unexpected token ':'. Yes, that is the type. That is the whole point.
VS Code is great, but for ten lines of code it means a new folder, npm init, a tsconfig.json, and a few minutes. By then I have forgotten the question. Online playgrounds want me to sign up, and they need the internet. My question was about an array, not about my email address.
So I did what developers do: I built my own tool to solve my own problem. I used it every day for years. Then I thought other people might want it too, so I cleaned it up, and here it is.

Why it isn’t all free
I wanted JSpark to be free, and it is: free, and not a trial, so it doesn’t expire. But building it costs money. It takes my time, and I have living costs, and a cat who eats every day and has never paid for anything.
So there is JSpark+, for people who want more. I made its price as low as I can. If it still feels expensive to you, email me. Tell me why, and ask for a discount. I read every one of those emails, and I would rather you use JSpark+ than not.

Independent
There is no company behind JSpark, no team and no investors. Everything is paid from my own pocket. So nobody can ask me to add ads, collect your data, or put a login in front of the editor. The only people I answer to are the people who use JSpark.
The app has no account and sends no telemetry. I don’t know who uses it, and I like it that way. It does mean I can’t tell you how many people use it. Sorry.

Little Spark
Little Spark is the name I sell JSpark+ under, and the name on your receipt and your card statement. It wasn’t planned. I needed a name, this one came to me at that moment, and it sounded good. It still does.
It is not a company: it is me, with a nicer name. Polar sells JSpark+ for me, as merchant of record, and handles the payment and tax.
