No. JSpark is a playground: a place to try code and see what it does. Use it to try an idea before you add it to your project, or to learn JavaScript by watching your code run. When the code grows into an app, build it in your editor.

Yes, and it isn’t a trial: it doesn’t expire. It needs no account, and the Timeline is included. JSpark+ is an optional upgrade that adds more. It’s the same app, so if you upgrade later, you keep your Snippets and settings.

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later), with macOS 13 Ventura or later, and Windows 10 or later. It’s the same app on both.

No. The Timeline replays Node Snippets. A Web Snippet shows its live page instead, and Peek works in both.

No. A Node Run is real Node, with your own access to your files, network and programs. A Snippet that uses your files, the network or another program doesn’t run as you type, so half-written code doesn’t run by accident. When you press Run, it runs with the same access as any program you start.

No. JSpark comes with its own Node, and with everything its Starters need.

No. There is no telemetry, no analytics and no crash reporting. The only network requests are the ones you cause, such as searching npm or running code that uses the network, and JSpark checking for updates, which you can turn off. JSpark+ also checks its License Key with the store, at most once a day, and sends nothing else.

No. The checkout asks for your email address, so it can send you your License Key. There is nothing to sign in to.

Yes. Turning a key on needs a connection once. After that, JSpark+ checks the key at most once a day when you are online, and being offline never locks you out.

JSpark+ lasts until the end of the year you paid for. Then the app goes back to JSpark, the free edition, and you keep everything you made: saved Snippets stay openable, installed packages keep working and your settings stay. Renew at any time and JSpark+ comes straight back.

Yes. Every new version, with its fixes, reaches everyone, whichever edition they have. The app updates itself in both.

Up to 3 per License Key, for one person, on Mac or Windows. To move to another computer, deactivate the old one in the app first. If you need more than 3, buy another License Key: each key covers 3 more.

Yes, within 30 days of any payment, renewals included, with no questions asked. Your key stops working and the app goes back to JSpark. Nothing you made is deleted.

No. JSpark itself is free and doesn’t expire, so it is the way to try the app for as long as you like. The 30 days are for refunds, not a trial.

Maybe. Email support@jspark.app and say why the price doesn’t work for you: for example, you are a student, or prices where you live are much lower. Every email is read, and when the reason is clear, a discount is given.

Open Polar’s customer page from your receipt email. It shows your keys, and lets you free a computer you no longer use.

On Polar’s customer page, at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and JSpark+ lasts until the end of the year you paid for.

In the app, choose Help → Report a Problem…. It opens an email in your own mail app, with the app’s versions, your edition and your system filled in, never your code or file paths. Add what you did and what happened, and send it. Or write to support@jspark.app.

Please report it privately, to security@jspark.app, not in public. The address is also in jspark.app/.well-known/security.txt.

It updates itself, in both editions. By default a new version downloads in the background and installs the next time you quit. In Settings you can choose to install updates yourself, or turn off checking for them.
